What Will I Learn?

This class is intended for students who need to achieve 7+ in the IELTS Academic Writing Section.

In this bar chart workshop, we look at the Bar Chart response in IELTS Academic writing task 1 and CAEL Speaking task 1.

You will learn:

* about formatting your response
* how to organize your response
* key techniques for a higher score
* common descriptive phrases & vocabulary
* how to give your response depth

Class Format

This Bar Chart Workshop is a one-hour class.

There are 3-6 people in the class.

Participants preparing for both IELTS Academic and CAEL are welcome.

* feedback on one response

A Typical Bar Chart Question

The Bar Chart question asks you to summarize a bar chart. These diagrams are also called bar graphs. They are often used to show changes over a period of time, so when you think about your summary, your focus should be on the changes that you see over the identified period.

The bar chart below shows the results of a survey conducted by a personnel department at a major company. The survey was carried out on two groups of workers: those aged from 18-30 and those aged 45-60, and shows factors affecting their work performance.
